Namibian Car Hire

Renting a car / vehicle in Namibia is quite expensive. It is worth remembering that you do not necessarily need a 4x4 to enable you to get close to the wildlife. Most lodges provide game drives as activities and the charge is, in most cases, very reasonable. If you chose this option you will be able to sit in relative comfort in the Safari jeep and concentrate on taking your pictures. If you like to drive yourself then head straight for Etosha - vast open spaces full of wild animals in their natural environment. Etosha's roadways are in excellent condition and no "off roading" in required. Some of the other game parks including Khaudum, on the Botswana border and the Skeleton Coast on the Atlantic side require 4x4 / off roading abilities. - The choice is yours!

Please tell us how many are in your party and wether you all wish to traveltogether. Also do you want a 4x4 vehicle or cheaper 2x4. We will negotiatethe best deal for you and your party with reputable local car hire companies.

Please note some journeys can be many hours in duration are you all in good shape and able to travel long distances?

If you would prefer to be driven around this beautiful country please let us know, we will negotiate with companies providing this service.

Car Guards

When parking in most towns throughout Namibia you will likely be approached by a "Car Guard". This is a voluntary system whereby the car guard will watch your vehicle while you are shopping etc. When returning to your car a tip of between Nam$1/2 is appropriate.

Please note there is no need to be alarmed that this system is necessary. Crime in most Namibian towns is of the petty theft variety and this car guard system provides employment for young men whilst givivng you the tourist additional peace of mind.
