Literally translated Mariental means "place of dust" - It is very hot and dry here but on a long journey to the South you'll be glad of a rest and a chance to stock up on provisions. Mariental has shops, petrol / gas stations and some great lodges. Be sure to visit "Bagatelle", in addition to great game drives and sundowners you'll meet the growing family of wildlife adopted by the owners including a Gemsbok that thinks she is a dog, some cheetahs, a zebra named Ziggy and a family of meercats!
